Union Education Minister flagged off the ‘One Nation One Election’ run at Delhi University

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that if India has to become a developed nation and a world superpower by 2047, then political stability in the country and the states is necessary. The Education Minister was addressing as the Chief Guest on the occasion of the ‘One Nation One Election’ race at Delhi University. This race was organized by Delhi University on Wednesday, 30 April from DU’s Rugby Stadium. On this occasion, Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta congratulated DU students for participating in the race. DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, while presiding over the program, said that Delhi University is playing an important role in the ‘One Nation One Election’ program. All the dignitaries including Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood and DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh flagged off the race.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said in his address that DU has a history of conceptualizing anything new in the country; Either it originates from DU campus or DU is at the forefront in its implementation. He said that after independence, till the 60s, simultaneous elections were held in India. This schedule has been disrupted for the last 50 years. Frequent elections lead to loss of time and revenue. This is not good for the progress of the country. Therefore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for ‘One Nation One Election’, the Lok Sabha adopted a resolution on it and stakeholders were consulted on it under the leadership of former President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind. Now the country has taken it as a mass movement. Dharmendra Pradhan said that the ‘One Nation One Election’ race is not just a race, but it is a race to make India the strongest country in the world by 2047.
