In a significant milestone for the global recognition of traditional medicine, the World Health Organization (WHO) has announced the 2025 update to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11). The update introduces a pioneering new module dedicated to traditional medicine conditions, marking a monumental step in the systematic tracking and global integration of traditional systems of healthcare practices related to Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani.

This update follows the successful year-long testing and deliberations after the launch of ICD-11 TM-2 (on January 10, 2024, in New Delhi) for Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani systems of medicine for country implementation testing. It culminates in the deliberations held at the WHO meeting at the National Institute of Health in Malaysia in November 2024. The ICD-11 TM 2 module is now officially released on the ICD-11 Blue Browser of WHO.
NIELIT inaugurate centre of excellence in Chip Design at Noida
Ministry of Electronics and IT NIELIT centre of Excellence in Chip Design at Noda Campus this is a next step in strengthening India’s semi conductor design and development capabilitieis. This is established in collaboration with SocTeamup semiconductor Pvt Ltd a DPIIT recognized start up. The project lab will act as a hub for innovation and collaboration in chip design while the smart classroom will enhance semiconductor education with advanced learning tools.

DRDO redefines Research Verticals to boost defence innovation
Directorate of Futuristic Technolog Management(DFTM) unveiled the changes at DRDO HQ new Delhi aiming to streamline directed research and enhance focus on emerging technologies.The existing 65 veticals across 15 DIA-COE have now been expanded to 82.integrating future requirement of DRDO Labs and advancing deep tech research. Key Addition include compound semiconductor Technology at IIT Bombay. Laser Beam combining for communication and power transmission at IIT Hyderabad,Software defined Radios at IIT Kanpur.Emerging RF Technologies at IIT Roorkee and Cryptography and Information technology at IITKharagpur

AI Drives Tenfold surge in consumenr complaints on National Helpline
The National Consumer Helpline has seen a tenfold surge in consumer complaints following the introduction of AI Powered sector specific analysis according to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. Complaints volumes soared from 12,553 in December 2025 to 1,55,138 in 2024. The monthly average complains nearly tripled rising from 37,062 in 2017 to 1,12,468 in 2024 while digital grievances increased to 68,831 in FY 2023-24 from previous record of 54,893
International Big CAT alliances officially comes into force
The framework agreement for the establishment of the International Big Cat Alliance(IBCA) has come into force.the environment ministry announced. The IBCA and its Secretariat have now become a treaty based intergovernmental international organization and legal entity. Five member countries india,Nicaragua, Eswatini,Somalia and Liberia have deposited their instrument of ratification while a total of 27 countries have consented to join the allinance.Several national and international wildlife conservation organization have also partnered with IBCA. Launched in the year April 9 2023 during the 50th anniversary of project tiger the IBCA aims to conserve Big Cat species.
US to withdraw form UNHRC
US President Donald Trum has signed an executive order officially to withdraw the US from the United Nation Human Right Council. This order also prohibits future US funding for UN Relief and works agency for Palestianian refugees (UNRWA) and calls for a review of US participation in UNESCO the UN cultural and educational body.

The department of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare has expanded the e NAM(National Agriculture Market) platform by adding 10 new commodities with defined tradable parameter.These include Dried Tulsi Leaves,Besan (chickpea flour),wheat flour,chana sattu,water chestnut flour,dried fenugreek leaves,water chestnut,baby corn and dragon fruit. These parameter developed by the directorate of marketing and inspection(DMI) ensure quality assurance and help farmer with better prices.

R Praggnanadhaa wins the TATA steel Master 2025 beating D Gukesh in a dramatic tie breaker. Pragg victory makes him the first Indian to win the prestigious title since Vishwanathan Anand in 2008. He is 14 years of age.
