The notification is out for AFCAT 2026 the course begins in January 2027.The AFCAT 2026 is an Air Force Common Admission Test for officer recruitment in the Indian Air Force courses commencing in January 2027—Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches. The qualification involves from simply gradaution,engineering, and 10+2 science.
As a Officer, you are entitled to furnished accommodation, comprehensive medical cover for self and dependents, Canteen, Officers’ Mess, loans at subsidised rates, LTC etc. Leave (60 days annual and 20 days casual), subject to service exigencies.
Insurance of 1.25 crore cover on contribution to service officer

Exam Schedule & Notification
- AFCAT opens twice a year (Session 1 & 2). For 2027 recruitments, the application and exam schedule is expected to mirror previous years:
- AFCAT 1 2027: Notification out,application form opens on November 10 ; application exam tentatively in April 2026.
- AFCAT 2 2027: Notification expected in May 2026; applications May-June 2026; exam in August or September 2026.

AFCAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens.
- Age Limit (as on 1 January 2027):
- Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years (born between 02 January 2004 and 01 January 2008 for AFCAT 2027).
- Ground Duty Branches: 20 to 26 years (born between 02 January 2002 and 01 January 2008).
- Education:
- Flying: 10+2 with Physics & Maths, plus a graduation degree with at least 60% marks.
- Ground Duty (Technical): Engineering/Technology degree.
- Ground Duty (Non-Tech): Graduation in any discipline with at least 60% marks.
Exam Pattern
- The test will be online, featuring objective-type questions across sections like General Awareness, English, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning/Military Aptitude.
- 100 questions, 300 marks, 2 hours duration; negative marking applies.

- You can apply online only through the official IAF AFCAT portal.
- The application fee is typically Rs. 550 for all categories.
