1. I am currently in the final year of BE/B.Tech. Am I eligible to apply for the post of Executive Trainee?
Yes, Candidates currently in final year (2025-26) of their Engineering Degree Course may also apply. Refer to Clause 3.10 of the detailed advertisement in the Career section of GAIL Website https://gailonline.com.

2. I have appeared for GATE-2025 and have a GATE score. Can I apply for the Executive Trainee?
No, Only GATE-2026 score is valid for this recruitment exercise. GATE score of 2025 or prior to that is not valid. Please refer to Clause 8.3 of the detailed advertisement hosted on GAIL website.

3. I have completed my Bachelor degree in Engineering degree in the year 2024. Am I eligible to apply for the post of Executive Trainee?
No, Candidates who have completed their Bachelor degree in Engineering in the relevant discipline/branch in the year 2025 & 2026 are eligible to apply for the post of Executive Trainee in E2 grade as per notified eligibility criteria. You may refer Clause 3.13 of the detailed advertisement hosted on GAIL website.

4. I am having B.E./B.Tech. degree in a branch/discipline, which has not been specified in the detailed advertisement. Can I apply for the post of Executive Trainee in any Engineering Discipline?
No, Only notified branch(es) mentioned in Table III of detailed advertisement against the respective post are considered. Candidates having engineering degree in a branch other than the branch/discipline notified in the detailed advertisement are not eligible to apply for the post of Executive Trainee. For example, candidate who has done Engineering in Mechatronics branch is not eligible to apply for the post of Executive Trainee (Mechanical) in GAIL.

5. I have completed my M.Tech in 2025 and B.Tech in 2024 separately. Am I eligible for applying for post of Executive Trainee (ET)?
No, Candidates who have completed their Bachelor degree in Engineering in relevant discipline/branch in the year 2024 or earlier are not eligible to apply for the post of Executive Trainee in E-2 grade against the vacancies.

6. I am not sure about the recognition of my engineering degree, can I apply?
As specified in Clause 3.3 of the detailed advertisement, qualifications must be from UGC recognized Indian University/UGC recognized Indian Deemed University or AICTE approved courses from Autonomous Indian Institutions/concerned statutory council (wherever applicable).

7. I have 64.56% marks in final semester of BE/B.Tech. Can I round off the same to 65% and apply for the post of Executive Trainee?
No rounding off in marks to the next higher digit, GAIL will not allowfor calculation of percentage of marks secured in Bachelor degree/Master Degree etc. Minimum percentage of marks in the essential qualification(s), as specified shall be in consideration as per Institute/University rules/norms. Refer clause 2 of detailed advertisement.

CGPA/OGPZ/SGPA

8. I have been awarded CGPA/OGPA/SGPA or Letter Grade in my Educational Qualification Marksheet/Certificate. My university/Institute does not provide percentage of marks obtained in the essential qualification as mentioned in the advertisement. What should I do?
Wherever CGPA/OGPA/DGPA/CPI or letter grade in a Degree is available, equivalent percentage of marks. candidates should indicate in the online application form as per norms adopted by University/Institute. You will submit documentary proof/certificate to this effect from the Institute/University at the time of document verification, if you qualify for same. In case there is no such provision or formula for conversion of CGPA/OGPA/DGPA/CPI to percentage, the candidate is to submit documentary proof issued by University/Institute in writing stating non-availability of such provisions in rules.

9. I have appeared in GATE last year. Do I need to write GATE in this year again?
Yes, GATE–2026 score is the only valid score for consideration for recruitment in GAIL for the year 2026. Scores from GATE–2025 or prior to that will not be in consideration by GAIL for recruitment purpose.

GATE other Papers Acceptable or Not

10. GATE conducts its examination in so many papers. Will scores from all the papers be in consideration by GAIL?
No, GAIL will consider GATE–2026 score in notified engineering disciplines, which have been advertised. Please see the detailed advertisement on GAIL website.

11. I belong to Unreserved category and my age is 26 yrs 2 days as on 18.03.2026. Am I eligible?
No, As per the Advt. the upper age limit (for UR category) for applying to GAIL is 26 years as on 18.03.2026.

12. Are there any medical fitness criteria for the respective post in the Advertisement?
Appointment to the advertised post(s) in GAIL will be subject to the candidate being medically fit as per the standards prescribed for the post by GAIL. Please refer to Clause 7 of the detailed advertisement.

13. Do I need to send the hardcopy print out of the online application form to your office by post?
Candidates are NOT required to submit hard copy of application form and/or any other document to GAIL at this stage.

14. I have entered my details incorrectly and submit the online application form. Can I edit the form?
Candidates can edit the application details before final submission. However, personal details submitted at the time of registration cannot be editable after successful registration. Candidates should take utmost care to furnish the correct details while filling in the on-line application. Hence, Candidates must take a preview of the application form before submitting the same. Once the form is submitted, no edition or deletion is possible

How GAIL use GATE 2026 Score

15. How will GAIL use GATE score?
GAIL will use GATE-2026 marks for shortlisting of the candidates who have applied to GAIL. Further selection process will comprise of GD and/or interview. However, GAIL reserves the right to alter/modify the selection process at any stage. GAIL will be getting the GATE-2026 scores directly from GATE authorities. Only those candidates who will appear in GATE-2026 in the relevant engineering paper and have registered themselves with GAIL would be in consideration for further selection process in GAIL, if shortlisted.

16. Can I apply to GAIL before I download GATE-2026 admit card?
NO, GATE–2026 admit card will have your GATE–2026 Registration Number which is a pre-requisite for applying in GAIL.

17. I am working in a Government/Public Sector Company. Should I enclose an NOC from my present employer at the time of applying for the Post?
Candidates presently employed in Central/State Government departments, Central/State PSUs or Semi Government organization must necessarily submit No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their present employer at the time of Selection Process (Group Discussion and/or Interview), if called for the same. No other document except clear NOC Letter will be acceptable le for this purpose.

Relaxation for Engineer Trainees for Reserved Category

18. I belong to SC/ST/PwBD category. What is the % relaxation in Marks of essential qualification?
Wherever minimum qualifying percentage of marks have been specified for UR/EWS/OBC(NCL) category candidates, a 5% relaxation against the minimum notified percentage will be provided for SC/ST/PwBD category candidates. However, if no post is reserved for SC/ST/PwBD category, such candidates shall be considered under general standard of merit and no relaxation in minimum qualifying percentage of marks in education qualification shall be available to them.

19. Where can I find my GATE registration number, and what is its significance in respect of my candidature?
GATE‐2026 Registration number is mentioned on GATE‐2026 Admit Card which should be entered correctly in the online application. Candidate must mention the complete GATE 2026 Registration Number in the GAIL Application Form. Application without valid GATE‐2026 registration number will be rejected.
