RMS CET 2026 Exam Pattern: The Rashtriya Military Schools Common Entrance Test (RMS CET) 2026 will be conducted in multiple stages. Candidates must qualify at the relevant stages of the admission process to be considered for final selection.
This is the first step in understanding which part carries the most marks. Although all subjects carry equal marks, don’t focus only on qualifying marks; aim higher.

Stage I: Written Examination

Candidates must qualify in the English test. English marks will not be counted when preparing the final merit list. The written examination for Class VI will generally be based on the Class V standard.

Minimum qualifying requirement: Candidates must secure 50% marks in the written examination. The Class IX written examination will generally be based on the Class VIII standard.
Will Qualifying Marks get you admission in 2027?
No, qualifying marks alone will not get you admission to RMS; you have to aim higher. RMS will prepare the merit list, and students who secure higher marks will be included.
Important Features of RMS CET 2026 Exam Pattern
- Class VI question paper: Bilingual — English and Hindi.
- Class IX question paper: English only.
- Negative marking: There will be no negative marking.
- If there is any ambiguity in the translation or construction of a question, the English version will be treated as final, except for questions in the language section.
- Candidates qualifying in RMS CET 2026 can be considered for admission irrespective of the medium in which they appeared for the examination, subject to fulfilling other eligibility conditions.
- The schedule for the interview will be announced separately through the official RMS website.
- Representations concerning discrepancies in answer sheets will be entertained within three months from the declaration of the result.
Stage II: Medical Examination
Candidates who qualify and are shortlisted after the written examination will have to undergo a medical examination. The medical examination will be conducted only at the nominated Military Hospitals (MHs) or Command Hospitals (CHs) specified for RMS CET 2026.
Candidates must select a medical examination centre from the designated hospitals. A candidate found medically unfit by the medical board will not be eligible for admission. A candidate’s admission will remain provisional until the concerned hospital issues the required Fitness Certificate.
Important: Requests to change the medical examination centre will not be accepted by RMS
Stage III: Interview
Candidates who qualify in both the written examination and medical examination will be called for the interview. The interview will be conducted at one of the Rashtriya Military Schools. The interview marks will be added to the written examination score to prepare the final merit list.

No travelling allowance or other allowance will be provided to candidates for journeys undertaken for the CET interview.
Stage IV: Final Result and Selection Process
The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined marks obtained in the written examination and interview. The NTA will publish the category-wise final result on its website. Candidates can check their marks using their login credentials. No separate communication will be sent to candidates who are not selected.
Final Selection
Candidates will be selected based on merit, vacancy availability, medical fitness, and applicable reservation norms. A merit list will be prepared regarding this. Selected candidates will be informed. Qualified candidates will be allotted a Rashtriya Military School based on merit and seat availability in the respective school.
