Candidates will also have the opportunity to provide their order of preference for districts within the selected State. However, district allotment will be based on the Bank’s requirements and the availability of training seats.
Canara Bank Apprentice Vacancy 2026: District Allotment
Canara Bank reserves the right to allot a candidate to any district within the selected State according to its administrative requirements. Therefore, preferring a particular district does not necessarily guarantee allotment to that district.
Candidates are advised to check the eligibility requirements, particularly the local-language requirement, before selecting a State.
Canara Bank Apprentice Training Period
The apprenticeship training period will be 12 months. During this period, apprentices will receive on-the-job training (OJT) at selected Canara Bank branches according to the prescribed course and curriculum.
The training will expose apprentices to the working environment of the Bank and banking-related activities applicable to the apprenticeship programme.
Apprentice Is Not a Regular Bank Employee
A key condition of recruitment is that apprentices will not be treated as employees of Canara Bank. Therefore, apprentices will not be entitled to the employment benefits available to regular Bank employees. The apprenticeship should be considered a structured training engagement rather than regular permanent employment.
Canara Bank Apprentice Contract Through NATS
Candidates found suitable for engagement through the merit process will receive a digital Apprenticeship Contract through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal. Candidates receiving the digital contract from Canara Bank must accept it on the NATS portal within the stipulated time.
No candidate will be engaged as an apprentice until:
- The candidate enters into the Apprenticeship Contract with Canara Bank.
- The contract is approved on the NATS portal.
Candidates should therefore ensure that their NATS registration and related details are correctly maintained.

| Government share through DBT | ₹6,150 per month |

The Government’s share of ₹6,150 will be credited directly to the apprentice’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as per the applicable guidelines.
Canara Bank will make a payment of ₹10,500 per month into the apprentice’s account. The stipend will be paid each month after adjustment for loss of pay, if applicable.
Are Apprentices Eligible for Other Allowances?

In case of misconduct by an apprentice, Canara Bank reserves the right to terminate the apprenticeship contract. The notification also states that apprentices will be prohibited from joining or forming any union body during the engagement.
Termination of Apprenticeship
The apprenticeship contract will normally end after completion of the prescribed 12-month training period. Either party to the Apprenticeship Training Contract may apply to the Apprenticeship Adviser for termination of the contract, as per the applicable rules.
The contract may also be terminated if an apprentice fails to report at the Bank’s training venue or branch on the scheduled date for commencement of basic training or on-the-job training.
During the apprenticeship, the Bank may also terminate the contract in cases involving:
- Misbehaviour
- Disobedience
- Unsatisfactory performance
- Any other act considered prejudicial to the interests of the Bank
In such cases, the notification provides for seven days’ notice before the Bank terminates the Apprenticeship.
Certificate After Completion of Training
Candidates who complete the apprenticeship training will receive a NATS joint certification after completion of the apprenticeship. This certificate documents completion of the apprenticeship training under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme.
No Guarantee of Permanent Employment
Candidates should carefully note that completion of the Canara Bank apprenticeship does not create any right to regular employment in the Bank.
