The official theme for the 2025 celebrations is “Naya Bharat” (“New India”), highlighting India’s vision of becoming prosperous, safe, and self-reliant by 2047—the centenary year of Independence. This theme connects with the government’s larger Viksit Bharat (Developed India) initiative.

Operation Sindoor Tributes

For the first time, floral decorations and invitation cards at the Red Fort will feature the Operation Sindoor logo, celebrating a significant recent military achievement. The water mark of Chenab bridge on invitations symbolizes India’s growing infrastructure and “Naya Bharat”.

Special Guests: Swachhta Karamcharis

A unique aspect this year is the invitation of 50 top-performing sanitation workers (Swachhta Karamcharis) from Delhi as honored guests at the Red Fort, recognizing their efforts in maintaining city cleanliness and hygiene.

Expanded Public Participation

About 5,000 special guests from all walks of life, including citizens in traditional attire from various states and winners of nationwide competitions, will witness the celebrations. 2,500 NCC cadets and ‘My Bharat’ volunteers will be present, forming the “Naya Bharat” logo at the event venue.

Military & Patriotic Innovation

  • The Prime Minister will be assisted by Flying Officer Rashika Sharma in unfurling the national flag—a ceremonial highlight.
  • A 21-gun salute will be fired using local 105mm Light Field Guns.
  • For the first time, 11 Agniveer Vayu musicians will join the Air Force band performing the National Anthem.
  • Two Indian Air Force helicopters will shower flower petals during the flag hoisting.

To promote patriotism and celebrate Operation Sindoor’s success, military bands (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and paramilitary forces) will perform at over 140 locations across India on the evening of August 15.

Community & Youth Engagement

Many schools, colleges, and community groups will organise events themed on “Naya Bharat” with tree planting drives, cleanliness campaigns, and digital empowerment activities
