In the first stage, candidates may be shortlisted based on the marks obtained in their prescribed qualifying degree, diploma, ITI, or vocational certificate, wherever applicable.
Candidates must generally have secured a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA, unless otherwise specified in the advertisement. Academic marks will be considered for screening and shortlisting for subsequent selection stages.
3. Written Examination
Candidates applying for posts under categories where a written examination is prescribed will have to appear for the written test.
- The examination may be conducted online through a Computer-Based Test (CBT) or in-person.
- Candidates securing 50% marks or above will qualify for consideration for the subsequent stage, subject to applicable shortlisting criteria.
- The examination syllabus will follow the general curriculum prescribed by government-run universities and colleges for the relevant engineering, science or graduate courses.
The written examination applies to Project Engineer/Associate, Senior Project Engineer/Associate and Project Scientific Assistant posts.
4. Online Interview
Candidates applying for posts under categories requiring an online interview will be shortlisted based on merit in the preceding applicable stage.
SAMEER will ordinarily shortlist candidates in the ratio of 1:6 or more against the advertised vacancies, as decided by the Competent Authority.
The online interview stage applies to CAT-A and CAT-B posts. Where an online interview is not prescribed, candidates will be shortlisted directly for the in-person interview based on merit in the preceding applicable stage.
5. In-Person Interview / Skill Test
The in-person interview is an important stage of the SAMEER recruitment process and is mandatory for selection wherever prescribed.
- Candidates will ordinarily be shortlisted in the ratio of 1:3 or more against the advertised vacancies.
- For Project Scientific Assistant and Project Technical Assistant posts, either an in-person interview or skill test/interaction will be conducted.

For posts where a written test is not conducted, shortlisting for the subsequent applicable stage will be based on marks obtained in the qualifying degree, diploma, ITI or graduate examination, ordinarily in the ratio of 1:6 or more against the vacancies.
6. Final Selection
Final SAMEER Mumbai Recruitment Selection Process 2026 of candidates will be based on marks obtained in the in-person interview and/or skill test-interaction only, as applicable.
The Selection/Interview Committee will prepare the final recommendations according to the prescribed selection procedure. The recommendations will be subject to approval by the Competent Authority.
