OR M. Tech. in Atmospheric/ Oceanic Sciences or related subjects. OR Master’s degree from any branch of Engineering. AND
The candidates should have qualified in one of the following national level examinations: CSIR-UGC NET / UGC NET / ICAR NET (Lecturership / Assistant Professorship) / GATE / JEST. (iii)The Candidates should have at least 55% aggregate marks for General and OBC Category (50% for SC, ST and PwBD) in the Master’s degree. (iv)The candidates should have studied Physics AND Mathematics subjects at bachelor’s degree
Other Important points
Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET/ UGC NET /ICAR NET (Lectureship / Assistant Professorship) / GATE / JEST and appeared / to appear for final year of M.Sc. / M.S. / M. Tech. / M.E. can also apply for the IITM Research Fellow positions and should write their aggregate marks up to the latest semester they have appeared, but their appointment shall be subject to having passed the M. Tech./ M.Sc./ M.S./ M.E. examination as evidenced by mark sheets/ provisional degree certificates

Selection Process
The qualifications prescribed in the advertisement are the minimum requirements and possession of the same doesn’t guarantee that the candidate would be called for a written test or interview. A duly constituted Screening Committee shall screen the applications received for the posts based on the given eligibility criteria and may introduce additional criteria as deemed necessary for short-listing the candidates for written test or interview.
In the event of a large number of applications received for IITM Research Fellow positions, IITM may conduct a written test to shortlist the candidates. The purpose of this test is only to shortlist the applications for the interview. Once the candidate is selected for an interview, the marks obtained in the written test will not be considered for the final selection process. Final selection will be done only based on the marks obtained in the Interview.
