NORCET 11 Stage 2 Result 2026 is expected on 10 October 2026, and thousands of candidates who appeared in the mains exam are now waiting to know whether their rank will be good enough for Nursing Officer selection.

A useful way to understand the possible selection range is to study the NORCET-9 Stage-II provisional seat-allocation list. We have analysed the PDF, which contains the rank-wise institute allocation for NORCET-9. The list shows that candidates were allotted institutes based on their Stage-II rank, category, choices, and seat availability.

NORCET-9 seat allocation: What does the data show?

The NORCET-9 allocation list is particularly useful because it shows the actual overall rank at which candidates received an institute, rather than merely showing the qualifying percentage.

The first page starts with candidates at Overall Rank 1, 2, 3, and so on, with institutes such as JIPMER Puducherry, AIIMS Kalyani, AIIMS Rajkot, and AIIMS Avantipora being allotted.

The allocation was not based only on marks. AIIMS clearly states that institute allocation was made according to NORCET Stage-II rank, the candidate’s institute preferences, and seat availability in the relevant category.

What was the last rank in the NORCET-9 list?

An important observation from the uploaded PDF is that the allocation list eventually reaches Overall Rank 13,996.

The last candidate shown has:

  • Category: ST
  • Gender: Female
  • PwBD: Yes
  • Overall Rank: 13,996
  • Institute: ESIC, New Delhi
  • Remark: On PwBD seat

This is important because Rank 13,996 should not be interpreted as the general-category selection cutoff. It was a PwBD category allocation.

In fact, the normal ST category allocations in the list extend to around 8,277, after which the remaining entries shown are largely special PwBD allocations at much higher overall ranks.

So, what is a “good rank” in NORCET 11 Stage 2 Result 2026?

Based on the NORCET-9 allocation pattern, candidates should not consider the qualifying cutoff and selection cutoff to be the same thing.

For NORCET-11, a practical interpretation would be:

Overall RankSelection outlook
1–500Excellent rank
501–1,500Very good chance
1,501–2,500Good rank; strong selection possibility
2,501–3,500Competitive; depends on category and vacancies
3,501–5,000Selection possible, but category/vacancy dependent
5,001–8,000Mostly dependent on category, PwBD and seat availability
8,000+Selection becomes highly category-dependent
10,000+General selection becomes difficult; special-category vacancies can change the picture

These are not official NORCET-11 cutoff ranks. They are an analytical estimate based on the NORCET-9 seat-allocation pattern in the uploaded document.

NORCET Stage-II qualifying cutoff vs selection cutoff

This distinction is very important. The qualifying cutoff tells you whether you have qualified for the examination. It does not guarantee a Nursing Officer post.

For NORCET-9, the reported Stage-II qualifying percentages were:

CategoryStage-II qualifying cutoff
UR/EWS50%
OBC45%
SC/ST40%
UR-PwBD45%
EWS-PwBD48.13%
OBC-PwBD41.67%
SC-PwBD37.92%
ST-PwBD35.83%

These percentages are qualifying cutoffs, not the final seat-allocation cutoff.

Why can someone qualify but not get a seat?

Suppose a candidate scores above the qualifying percentage. That candidate becomes eligible for the next stage/selection process, but the actual institute allocation depends on:

  1. Stage-II overall rank
  2. Category
  3. PwBD status
  4. Available vacancies
  5. Institute preference
  6. Category-wise seat availability

This is exactly how the NORCET-9 allocation document describes the process.

Is Rank 3,000 good for NORCET-11?

Yes, Rank 3,000 can be considered a competitive rank, but it should not be described as a guaranteed selection. The reason is that NORCET-11 will have its own vacancy positions and category-wise seat distribution. AIIMS also notes in its recruitment material that vacancies can vary among participating institutes. AIIMS Exams

Therefore, a candidate with:

  • Rank under 1,000: Very strong position
  • Rank under 2,000: Strong position
  • Rank under 3,000: Good/competitive position
  • Rank 3,000–5,000: Need to consider category and vacancies carefully
  • Rank above 5,000: Selection becomes increasingly dependent on category and available seats

What does NORCET-9 tell us about reserved categories?

The uploaded list gives a particularly interesting picture for ST candidates.

On pages 50–51, ST candidates continue to receive institute allocations at progressively higher ranks. The regular ST allocation reaches Overall Rank 8,277. After that, the document shows separate PwBD allocations at much higher ranks, including ranks 9,902, 10,418, 11,892, 12,282, 12,724, 13,389, 13,657, 13,995 and 13,996.

This demonstrates why it is incorrect to say that there is one single NORCET selection cutoff rank for everyone.

Category matters

For example, a candidate with a rank that may not be sufficient in UR can still have a selection opportunity in a reserved category, depending on the vacancies and applicable reservation rules.

NORCET-11 candidates: How should you judge your rank?

Once the NORCET 11 Stage 2 Result 2026 is released, candidates should first check their overall rank and category.

A simple way to assess the NORCET 11 Stage 2 Result 2026 is:

Rank below 1,500

Very good position. Candidates should have a strong chance of getting an institute, subject to vacancies and eligibility.

Rank 1,500–2,500

Good position. Candidates should participate carefully in institute preference/seat allocation.

Rank 2,500–3,500

Competitive position. Selection will depend considerably on category and the number of available vacancies.

Rank 3,500–5,000

Wait and watch. Reserved-category candidates may have better opportunities than UR candidates at the same overall rank.

Rank above 5,000

Do not immediately assume that selection is impossible. The NORCET-9 list itself shows that category-specific and PwBD allocations can extend to substantially higher overall ranks.

Important: There is no single “selection cutoff”

The biggest takeaway from the NORCET-9 data is that qualifying cutoff, selection rank, and institute cutoff are three different things. For NORCET-9, AIIMS allocated institutes according to Stage-II rank, preferences, and seat availability.

Also, the allocation was provisional. AIIMS stated that appointment remained subject to verification of original certificates and eligibility conditions.

The notification further stated that candidates who received an allocation had to accept the offered seat and report to the allotted institute; failure to do so could the NORCET 11 result in cancellation of the allocation.

NORCET-11 expected selection rank: our analysis

For candidates waiting for the NORCET 11 Stage 2 Result 2026, a reasonable way to interpret the rank is:

  • Under 1,500 → Excellent
  • 1,500–2,500 → Very good
  • 2,500–3,500 → Good/competitive
  • 3,500–5,000 → Borderline to competitive
  • 5,000–8,000 → Category-dependent
  • 8,000+ → Highly dependent on category/PwBD and vacancies

Again, these are not official AIIMS NORCET-11 cutoffs. They are an analytical estimate using the actual NORCET-9 seat-allocation data you provided.

Bottom line

If your NORCET 11 Stage 2 Result 2026 overall rank is below 2,500, you can consider yourself to be in a strong position for Nursing Officer selection. A rank between 2,500 and 5,000 can still be competitive, particularly depending on category and vacancies. Candidates with higher ranks should not lose hope until the category-wise seat matrix and allocation result are available.

The NORCET-9 data clearly shows that selection can extend much beyond the top few thousand ranks for certain categories, while PwBD allocations can extend to very high overall ranks.
