Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of service in the respective nursing category is generally required.
  • In exceptional cases involving outstanding or life-saving contributions, the experience requirement may be relaxed.

Selection Criteria

The selection committee evaluates nominees based on their professional achievements and overall contribution to healthcare. Some of the key factors include:

  • Outstanding work in patient care and public health programmes such as TB, HIV/AIDS, Leprosy, Cancer Care, Mental Health, Palliative Care, and other national health initiatives.
  • Significant contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic or other public health emergencies.
  • Service during natural disasters, accidents, or other emergencies where the nominee played an important role in saving lives.
  • Work in remote, tribal, hilly, or other difficult areas with limited healthcare facilities.
  • Additional qualifications, research work, publications, training programmes, and participation in Continuing Nursing Education (CNE).

Nomination Process

Individual nurses cannot submit nominations directly to the Indian Nursing Council.

Nominations must be recommended through the appropriate authority, including:

  • State or Union Territory Selection Committee headed by the Secretary (Health & Family Welfare).
  • Central Government institutions.
  • Autonomous organisations such as AIIMS and universities.
  • Railways.
  • ESI Hospitals.
  • Military Nursing Service (MNS).

Only nominations approved by the concerned selection committee will be considered.

Documents Required

The National Florence Nightingale Nurses Awards 2027 nomination should include the following documents:

  • Two recent passport-size photographs.
  • Detailed biodata with educational qualifications, nursing registration details, and professional achievements.
