Indian Army TES 57 Selection Rules

Indian Army TES 57 Selection Rules: Candidates applying for both the Indian Army’s 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES) and the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy (AF & NA) courses must follow specific medical examination procedures. The medical process depends on which entry the Services Selection Board (SSB) recommends the candidate for first.

The Indian Army TES 57 Selection Rules guidelines also explain the regarding medical unfitness, permanent body tattoos, changes to SSB interview dates, travelling allowance and preparation of the final merit list.

Indian Army TES 57 Selection Rules:

1. Medical Examination Procedure for Candidates Applying for Both TES and NDA

Candidates who apply for TES and NDA & NA simultaneously must undergo medical examinations according to the entry in which they are recommended first.

Case 1: Candidate Recommended for TES Before NDA SSB

Candidates recommended for TES before appearing for their NDA SSB interview must undergo the TES medical examination first.

  • Candidates must undergo separate medical examinations for TES and NDA (Air Force and Navy).
  • The NDA medical examination will begin only after the candidate is declared FIT in the TES medical examination.
  • Candidates who have opted only for NDA Army do not need to undergo the NDA medical examination again.

Case 2: Candidate Recommended for NDA Before TES

Candidates recommended for NDA through SSB before TES will not undergo a separate TES medical examination.

  • The TES medical status will be the same as the NDA Army medical examination status.
  • If the NDA medical process is ongoing, including SMB, AMB or RMB, the same process will be completed.
  • Candidates will not be required to appear separately for the TES medical examination.
  • A candidate declared UNFIT in the NDA medical examination will also be considered UNFIT for TES.

2. Indian Army TES 57 Selection Rules & NDA Rules: Medical Unfitness Rules

Candidates must carefully follow the medical examination requirements for both entries. If a candidate is declared UNFIT or UNFIT IN ABSENTIA at any stage of the medical examination for TES or NDA & NA, the candidate will be declared UNFIT for both entries.

According to the stated Indian Army TES 57 Selection Rules & NDA Rules, no representation will be accepted thereafter. Candidates must also disclose information about previous medical examinations. Non-disclosure of any previous medical examination information may lead to cancellation of candidature.

3. Permanent Body Tattoos

Candidates should check the Indian Army’s official tattoo policy before applying or appearing for the selection process. For detailed information regarding permanent body tattoos, candidates should visit the official Indian Army recruitment website:

4. Can Candidates Change Their SSB Interview Date or Centre?

No. According to the Indian Army TES 57 Selection Rules & NDA Rules guidelines, requests to change the SSB interview date or centre will not be entertained or replied to. Candidates should therefore make the necessary arrangements to attend their interview on the allotted date and at the assigned centre.

5. Travelling Allowance for SSB Interviews

Candidates appearing for an SSB interview for the first time for a particular type of commission are entitled to travelling allowance under the prescribed conditions.

The applicable entitlement is:

  • AC III-tier railway fare for the onward and return journey, or
  • Bus fare, including reservation and sleeper charges, within Indian geographical limits.

Candidates applying again for the same type of commission will not be entitled to travelling allowance on subsequent occasions. For clarification regarding eligibility or payment of travelling allowance, candidates may contact the concerned Selection Centre directly.

6. TES and NDA Merit List: How Is Final Selection Decided?

Qualifying in the SSB interview does not guarantee final selection. The merit list will be prepared based on the marks candidates obtain in the SSB interview.

The following factors will not have a role in finalising the merit list under the stated Indian Army TES 57 Selection Rules & NDA Rules:

  • Higher educational qualifications
  • Previous performance
  • NCC background

Joining letters for pre-commission training at the Cadets Training Wings (CTWs) will be issued only subject to vacancy availability and the candidate’s medical fitness.

Therefore, candidates must satisfy the applicable medical requirements and secure a position in the merit list within the available vacancies to be considered for joining.
