AFCAT 01/2027 Educational Qualification: The Indian Air Force has prescribed different educational qualifications for candidates applying to Flying, Ground Duty Technical, and Ground Duty Non-Technical branches. Candidates must fulfil the minimum marks and subject requirements specified for their respective branches.
IAF introduced the GATE score, so candidates with a GATE score can apply. The Indian Air Force has introduced a GATE Score-based entry route under AFCAT 01/2027 recruitment for courses commencing in January 2028. This provides an additional opportunity for engineering graduates aspiring to become commissioned officers in the Ground Duty (Technical) Branch.
Under this entry scheme, eligible candidates can apply using their GATE scores instead of appearing for the AFCAT written examination. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) testing as per the prescribed selection procedure.
The GATE Score Entry is available for the Ground Duty (Technical) Branch, covering Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) and Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical), subject to the prescribed educational qualifications and eligibility conditions.
