Vacancies: Approximately 8 to 10 (typically 5 each for men and women).
Notification/Applications: Applications for the 36th Course (April 2026 batch) are expected to open in August 2025 (August 4 for women and August 5 for men) and close 3 September 2025.
Course Commencement: batch commences April/October 2026.
Age Limit:
21–27 years as on January 1, 2026 (Born not earlier than 02 Jan 1999 and not later than 01 Jan 2005; both dates inclusive
Education:
LLB degree (3-year after graduation or 5-year after 10+2) from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
Must be eligible for registration as an advocate with Bar Council of India/State.
Must have appeared for CLAT PG 2025 (including eligible LLM students).
Gender/Marital Status: Unmarried men and women are eligible.
Salary/Pay Scale: Pay Level 10 (₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 per month), CTC approximately ₹17–18 lakh per annum (excluding benefits).
Training: 49 weeks at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai; stipend of ₹56,100/month during training.
Rank After Training: Lieutenant.
Selection Process:
Shortlisting based on CLAT PG score.
SSB Interview (5 days at Allahabad, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Kapurthala).
Medical Examination.
Final merit listing.
Application Fee: No application fee.
Service Tenure: Short Service Commission up to 14 years (initial 10 years, extendable by 4 years); possibility of Permanent Commission for eligible and willing officers after 10 years.
